The bookstore firm featured within the seminal movie “When Harry Met Sally,” is reportedly closing two of its brick-and-mortar places, leaving just one New York Metropolis store open by the tip of the month

Beloved bookstore Shakespeare & Co. is closing the doorways on its third Manhattan location, on Broadway and West a hundred and fifth Road, virtually one 12 months after launching the shop.

“Shakespeare & co. regrets to announce that we will soon be leaving this location. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support and loyalty over the past year. It has been a pleasure serving this wonderful neighborhood community,” an indication addressed to prospects on the a hundred and fifth location reads.

One of many Higher West Facet retailer’s homeowners advised the West Facet Rag the choice to shut the shop was attributable to monetary considerations.

“It was a really great landlord, a wonderful community,” Dane Neller advised the outlet. “Love the neighborhood, love the customers. We just weren’t able to get to the sales level we needed to make the store sustainable.”

Neller advised the West Facet Rag that the bookstore firm’s East Facet retailer on Lexington Avenue between East 68th Road and East 69th Road can even shut. There are not any plans to shut the second Higher West Facet location on Broadway between West 68th Road and West 69th Road.

Shakespeare & Co. as soon as had one other Broadway location finally pushed out by the rise of Amazon and larger ebook retailers like Barnes & Noble. That 81st Road retailer gained an additional little bit of notoriety serving as a backdrop within the basic movie “When Harry Met Sally.”
