The NYPD stated they’re on the lookout for an uncommon theft suspect who has struck practically a dozen occasions in Brooklyn and Queens — with how he picks his victims and the way the robberies go down actually being atypical.

The suspect is called the “Haggler After Midnight,” primarily based on the time he strikes, in keeping with the NYPD. He carries a knife and rides a black and blue scooter, on the lookout for males strolling alone.

“He’s got a strange M.O.: He often haggles with his victims, so we call him the ‘Haggler After Midnight.’ That’s how he likes to strike,” stated NYPD Deputy Chief John Mastronardi. “So typically occasions, if the sufferer produces property they’re gonna surrender, he typically says ‘No no no, I don’t need that, I need that.’ So he’ll select.”

He’s needed for a minimum of 11 robberies in Brooklyn and Queens, and is specific relating to his targets.

“He asked if he was a construction worker, which we find very odd,” stated Mastronardi, noting that the robberies are getting extra aggressive.

“In the last incident, the male approached one of our victims and put a knife to his throat removing his property…more brazen, more bold, more violent,” Mastronardi stated. “The emotional trauma, the concern that it creates and simply harmless people going house from work being focused.”

Detectives within the NYPD’s Crimes Towards Individuals Unit says the robber negotiates along with his victims in English and Spanish, after which assaults.

Mastronardi stated the suspect targets Hispanic males between the age of 20-40 who’re strolling by themselves after midnight. The so-called “Haggler” is claimed to be after money and electronics.

A reward is being provided for any info resulting in an arrest.
