It includes average raises of $10,000 this year alone, guaranteed raises for the next five years, and the highest minimum salaries of any unionized contract faculty in the country,” Wiley Norvell, chief communications officer at NYU, mentioned. “Why would the union choose to disrupt thousands of students’ education when they have a market-leading offer, and despite the university pressing to resolve this contract through an independent mediator for the past five months?”

A strike would impression the college’s whole enrollment, which was over 60,000 as of fall 2025; this contains 29,471 undergraduates; 27,804 graduate {and professional} faculty college students; and three,250 folks enrolled in noncredit packages.

“We cannot lose sight of our responsibility to our students, no matter what happens,” Norvell mentioned. “They are our top priority and we are prepared to continue their academic progress if the union goes on strike.”

Electeds need professors to get a “strong contract they deserve”
