Two defendants accused of bribing former Sen. Bob Menendez with money and gold bars have reported to federal jail. 

Businessman Wael Hana and developer Fred Daibes surrendered to FCI Fairton in south New Jersey Monday morning. 

Daibes and Hana had been convicted together with Menendez in July on 16 counts.  A 3rd businessman, Jose Uribe, pleaded responsible and testified towards his co-conspirators within the wide-ranging bribe scheme.   

Daibes bribed the senator partially to attempt to get him to make use of his energy to stress the NJ US lawyer to drop a separate financial institution fraud investigation into Diabes. Hana paid bribes to the senator partially for his assist with the Egyptian authorities to safe a monopoly contract for halal meat exports.

The FBI discovered lots of of 1000’s in money, gold bars and a Mercedes convertible on the Menendez dwelling in Englewood Cliffs, which they mentioned had been a part of the pay-off scheme.

In January, Decide Sidney Stein sentenced Hana to eight years in jail.  Daibes was sentenced to seven years and ordered to pay a $1.7 million positive. 

Menendez was sentenced to 11 years in jail.  He’s anticipated to give up to FCI Schuylkill in Minersville, Pennsylvania, on June 17.

His give up was postponed 11 days so he might attend his stepdaughter’s wedding ceremony in Massachusetts.  

Menendez’s spouse, Nadine, was tried individually and was discovered responsible on all 15 counts of bribery and obstruction of justice in March. Her trial was delayed so she might bear remedy for breast most cancers. 

She might be sentenced on September 11,, 2025. Cooperator Uribe might be sentenced on September 4, 2025.
