A brand new father on Lengthy Island is going through homicide prices after police allege he beat his 2-month-old child woman to demise.

On Jan. 1, 2025, a hospital in Far Rockaway celebrated the delivery of Liseyda Rabanales-Barrios, it’s first child of the brand new yr.

On March 7, EMTs responded to a 911 name within the Nassau County neighborhood of Inwood, and located the toddler in cardiac arrest. Liseyda died later that day. 

An post-mortem revealed the kid had extreme accidents.

“Severe damage to cervical spine, subcranial bleeding, fractured ribs to a 2-month-old,” stated Det. Captain Steven Fitzpatrick.

Police stated the newborn’s father, Marlon Rabanales-Pretzantzin, initially instructed detectives the newborn rolled off his lap. He later admitted he abused the newborn as a result of he didn’t assume he was the daddy, in keeping with detectives.

“He hit the child several times, he threw the child on the ground. The amount of times he did it is still unknown,” Fitzpatrick stated.

Rabanales-Pretzantzin, 20, was arrested and charged with second-degree homicide. He’s initially from Guatemala and got here to the U.S. in 2022.

“I’ve learned some things, I will look into them. He did share some things with me and I’m going to follow up on them as I must,” stated protection lawyer Mindy Plotkin.

The couple additionally has a 1-year-old son, who the mom faraway from the house voluntarily after the allegations towards Rabanales-Pretzantzin got here out. The daddy was instructed to avoid that baby. 

“This man should never have had a kid, and what he did to this kid is unthinkable,” stated Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.

Rabanales-Pretzantzin was ordered held with out bail. His subsequent court docket date is scheduled for March 17 in Hempstead.
