A husband and spouse have been discovered lifeless with gunshot wounds at their house in a quiet Lengthy Island city, and police imagine the incident could have been a murder-suicide.

Officers responded to the house on Parsons Touchdown in Islip round 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning after a 911 caller instructed them a few man who had been shot exterior the home, based on Suffolk County police. It was a rubbish collector happening his typical route who discovered the person, later recognized as 73-year-old William Clifford.

The rubbish truck driver tried to assist the person, however to no avail.

After officers acquired to the scene, they discovered a lady lifeless inside a bed room on the house as effectively, police stated. The girl was recognized as 68-year-old Eileen Clifford, the person’s spouse.

William Clifford is believed to have shot and killed his spouse within the bed room earlier than turning the gun on himself within the driveway, based on police.

“Neighbors described them as very nice. It’s a tight-knit community. They were very friendly with the neighbors,” stated Suffolk County Police Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer.

The couple had been married for 20 years, and police stated there was no historical past of home violence.
