New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is sending further Nationwide Guard members to patrol the subways for the vacation season in New York Metropolis, she introduced this week.
Hochul stated she ordered 250 extra Guard members into the subway system to assist with security of passengers and due to the rise in vacationers via New York Metropolis in the course of the holidays.
“With this increased quantity of tourists and riders, asserting a further 250 nationwide guard to assist assist NY’s Activity drive Empire Defend,” the governor stated.
Hochul stated she needs to make sure folks touring to New York for the vacations really feel secure.
“This is not in response to a specific crime, we’re not seeing a trend that’s alarming, but it’s about continuing a strategy,” Hochul emphasised.
