4 hikers have been rescued by officers after they admitted to authorities that they’d consumed magic mushrooms and have been affected by a “debilitating high.”
The New York State Division of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers mentioned that its rangers and native firefighters rescued the hikers within the Slide Mountain Wilderness, a park about 20 miles west of Woodstock, on Aug. 29.
“The original caller admitted the group had consumed mushrooms and one of them was experiencing a debilitating high,” the company mentioned in an announcement.
Rangers and firefighters situated the group of hikers and escorted them “to the trailhead where they were evaluated by Shandaken Ambulance,” the company mentioned.
Officers mentioned that they supplied a courtesy journey to the group’s rental lodging.
They added that one of many hikers misplaced their automobile keys, which rangers recovered the subsequent day in a sling bag with the keys below a log in tall ferns.
