As a part of his settlement, Bonaccorso,  entered a consent order instantly forfeiting his workplace as mayor of Clark and agreeing to be completely barred from holding any future public workplace or employment.  The 64-year-old has been the New Jersey township’s mayor since 2001.

In November 2023,  New Jersey Legal professional Basic’s Workplace charged Bonaccorso with two counts: conspiring to commit official misconduct and forgery.  New Jersey Legal professional Basic’s Workplace of Public Integrity & Accountability (OPiA) alleged  Bonaccorso operated his oil tank-removal enterprise out of his township workplace using municipal sources,  however neither Bonaccorso nor his firm had the mandatory underground-storage-tank-removal license required to do such work.

“Today’s guilty plea secured by OPIA ends a long and sad betrayal of the community by someone who had been in a position of power and trust for a long time,” Legal professional Basic Matthew Platkin stated.

Beneath the phrases of the plea settlement, the State will advocate that the courtroom sentence the defendant to 3 years of probation and impose a high-quality of $15,000 when he seems earlier than by Decide Lisa Walsh once more on Feb. 7.

Friday’s plea deal was not associated to the recordings.
