Caught on digicam: Chicken strike at LaGuardia forces emergency touchdown

A flight out of LaGuardia sure for Charlotte, North Carolina, needed to make an abrupt touchdown at John F. Kennedy Worldwide Airport after a chicken strike brought about an engine hearth late Thursday, authorities say.

No accidents had been reported when American Airways flight 1722 landed safely at JFK, the place it was set to be inspected by the upkeep group. There have been 190 clients and 6 crew members aboard on the time, the airline stated.

Video captured by a WCNC Charlotte producer seems to point out a chicken enter the engine moments after takeoff. A ball of fireplace erupts.

Vacationers got resort lodging and a scheduled re-departure for Friday morning.

“We are grateful to our crew for their professionalism and apologize to our customers for the inconvenience this may have caused,” American Airways stated in an announcement.
