A 6-year-old Ecuadorian lady and her mom who had been residing in Queens and have been detained after a routine immigration listening to earlier this month have been deported.

Six-year-old Dayra is a scholar at PS 89, the Jose Peralta Faculty of Dreamers in Queens. She had been getting ready to return there within the fall.

Councilmember Shekar Krishnan, a Democrat representing Jackson Heights, says the household confirmed as much as 26 Federal Plaza on Aug. 5 for a scheduled immigrant check-in. Krishnan says they have been detained on the listening to.

“Family separation is cruel it is unnecessary it is not making our community safer. What it is doing is spreading horror and terror in neighborhoods like my own in Jackson Heights and Elmhurst,” he stated.
