Eleven further library branches throughout New York Metropolis will now provide service on Sundays.
This growth, created by Speaker Adrienne Adams and the New York Metropolis Council, is facilitated by a $2 million funding devoted to rising weekend entry to library service.
The $2 million is along with a $15 million improve in working assist for New York Metropolis’s three library techniques – Brooklyn Public Library (BPL), New York Public Library (NYPL), and Queens Public Library (QPL) – as a part of the Fiscal 12 months 2026 adopted finances.
The brand new Sunday hours will start Sept. 7, 2025, and can deliver the citywide whole variety of branches open on Sundays to greater than 30.
Expanded Sunday library service will likely be provided on the following branches:

Baychester
Kingsbridge

“Libraries are critical infrastructure providing essential services for New Yorkers. I am proud to have secured $2 million in funding in this year’s budget to expand 7-day library service to 11 additional branches throughout the city,” stated Council Member Carlina Rivera, Chair of the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Libraries, and Worldwide Intergroup Relations. “Now even more families and individuals will get to learn to love reading, access resources to bridge the digital divide, and enjoy all that libraries have to offer.”
