East Hartford police have launched bodycam video exhibiting the interplay they’d on Sunday with a 17-year-old from Hartford who died after a taking pictures that police stated was self-inflicted.

Officers responded to AAA Diner on Important Avenue in East Hartford round 5 a.m. Sunday to analyze a report of larceny.

As soon as they obtained to the scene, they discovered that the suspects obtained into an Uber and left, then police stopped the automobile close to Important Avenue and Orchard Avenue, police stated.

After stopping the automobile, officers spoke with  a 17-year-old younger man from Hartford.

The video police launched reveals a dialogue with a suspect in regards to the invoice. In it, police instructed the teenager that they have been going to pat him down and produce him again to pay the remainder of the invoice.

Police stated the officer overlooked the teenager, then discovered him within the 1100 block of Important Avenue with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his proper leg.

“There’s a shot fired. I think he shot himself in his leg,” an officer is heard saying.

Emergency crews offered medical care on the scene and the teenager was taken to St. Francis Hospital, the place he later died throughout surgical procedure, in response to police.

“People make mistakes and unfortunately, because of this mistake, a child had to lose his life,” AAA Diner proprietor Mohammad Ahmed stated.

Police stated they discovered a stolen gun subsequent to the teenager and traced it to South Windsor.
