The humanities have lengthy been foundational  at CUNY, and so they proceed to flourish on our  campuses – from Brooklyn School’s acclaimed  artistic writing MFA to the modern language  translation program at Queens School to the  cultural and humanities-based programming  for Latinx college students at LaGuardia Group  School’s Casa de las Américas. CUNY boasts  so many celebrated poets, together with a number of Pu litzer Prize winners, that The New York Occasions  dubbed us “Poetry U.”

CUNY’s years-long elevation of humanities  training was kickstarted by a collection of grants from the Andrew W.
