Police are trying to find three thieves accused of stealing a subway prepare in Queens and taking it for a joyride over the weekend.

The brazen theft happened jus earlier than 10:30 p.m. Saturday close to the 71st Avenue station in Forest Hills alongside the E/F/M/R strains, in keeping with the NYPD. Officers initially responded to studies of vandalism, however had been met by an MTA worker who reported a number of folks boarded the unoccupied R prepare after which took it on a joyride for a brief distance.

The MTA didn’t instantly reply to questions on whether or not there have been operational cameras on the stolen prepare. The transit company stated it was working with police to determine and discover these accountable for swiping the R prepare.

“I’ve heard of kids [subway] surfing, but as far as hijacking a train and driving it? Not too often, but it should never happen,” stated Chris Pitino, of Lengthy Island Metropolis. “That’s insanity. That’s crazy.”
