“This is not Russia,” Congressmember Nydia Velazquez charged on Sunday alongside Rep. Adriano Espaillat after they are saying they have been denied entry to the place immigrants are being detained in Decrease Manhattan.

This comes after every week of unrest throughout which individuals attending immigration hearings have been ambushed and carried away in cuffs from the courtroom hallways whereas protests towards the escalating ICE detentions have ramped up in response, resulting in mass arrests as New Yorkers try to cease immigrants from being faraway from the constructing.

“I will vote against any money for this type of inhumane treatment of people who have rights. The fact that you are an undocumented person doesn’t make you a criminal. Hey, Donald Trump was convicted of how many counts? And he is President of the United States,” Velazquez stated.
