New York man fatally shot whereas in Puerto Rico for Dangerous Bunny live performance remembered as inspiration

A New York man who was fatally shot in Puerto Rico’s La Perla neighborhood in San Juan on Sunday is being remembered by his family members as a beloved son, pal and inspiration to all who knew him.

Kevin Mares, 25, was visiting the island with buddies to attend a Dangerous Bunny live performance. On Sunday, Mares was out when a couple of folks started to combat throughout the road, his father, Hector Mares, informed NBC New York.

“Somebody got a gun and start shooting, and unfortunately they hit my son in the abdomen,” Hector Mares stated.

Mares was an harmless bystander caught within the crossfire of the capturing, based on murder detective Sgt. Arnaldo Ruiz. He was taken to a hospital the place he was pronounced useless.

Mares’ loss of life has left his household fully devastated and in shock.

“My son, everybody loves him, everybody,” Hector Mares informed NBC New York. “He was doing good at school, he was working. When he came home from work, he started taking care of his, his pets, and he loves cooking.”

The final time he noticed his son was proper earlier than he left for Puerto Rico.

“We say, ‘Goodbye, take care, see you soon, we’re gonna miss you,'” Hector Mares stated. “We never, never expect that was going to be the last time we see him.”

Mares’ mom, Sandra Mares, was in disbelief when she was informed of her son’s passing.

“We couldn’t believe it,” she informed NBC New York in Spanish. “We thought it was a joke.”

Sandra recalled spending weekends together with her son, when the household would get collectively to grill hamburgers and hotdogs, or sing karaoke.

Now, all Mares’ mother and father need is for his or her son’s physique to be introduced again to New York. They began a GoFundMe to assist them with physique switch and funerary bills.

The household remembered Mares as “a deeply loved son, devoted friend, and a source of inspiration to everyone who knew him,” who had a brilliant future forward of him.

“His wholehearted kindness, adventurous spirit, and unwavering commitment to family made him a pillar of strength for his loved ones,” his household stated on the GoFundMe web page.

Mares was planning to suggest to his girlfriend of six years this fall, based on his household.

His girlfriend, Angy Arguello, posted a picture of Mares to her Instagram story in his reminiscence on Sunday.

“My love, I love you,” Arguello wrote in a caption together with the photograph. “I miss you so much. Why God did you take him away from me?”

The investigation into the capturing that killed Mares is ongoing.
