The mayor of Pemberton, New Jersey, walked out of a particular assembly that was held on Monday as members of the group known as for his resignation amid issues over what one official described as “incidents of misconduct.”

A video recording reveals Pemberton Township Mayor Jack Tompkins leaving a group assembly on Monday, July 7, after Vicky Adams, a resident, known as for him to resign, saying he handled her badly previously.

“This man has to go. He has done so many underhanded things,” she mentioned.

Tompkins, a Republican, stepped out of the room to a spherical of applause after Adams claimed he has handled members of the township poorly.

“During your tenure, you have subjected the residents and employees of our township to repeated and deeply troubling instances of misconduct. These include, but are not limited to: sexual harassment, sexual discrimination, the creation of a toxic work environment, acts of retaliation, and decision-making that has caused—or threatens to cause—irreparable harm to this community,” Bianchini, a fellow Republican, wrote in a letter to Tompkins.

Bianchini additionally accused Tompkins of denying a member of the group a possibility “out of vindictiveness,” and mentioned that the mayor cancelled an upcoming Water Carnival with out consulting councilmembers.

“Your actions are not isolated,” wrote Bianchini, in calling for the mayor to resign. “They are part of a sustained pattern of retaliatory and unethical leadership.”

Mayor Tompkins’ time in workplace has been noticed with controversy since he was elected in 2023. That very same 12 months, Nichole Pittman, who was the director of the Division of Parks and Recreation and Senior Providers for the township, filed a lawsuit in opposition to the mayor claiming she had been sexually harassed by Tompkins.

Talking to NBC10, Bianchini had stronger phrases for Tompkins’ alleged conduct.

“His track record since he came into office has been one of incompetence, unprofessionalism, lack of leadership. Leadership is not a word to use with this individual. He’s a vile human being,” mentioned the council president.

Contacted for remark by Martinez-Valle, Tompkins mentioned he had “no comment” for this story.
