Tons of of staff at three luxurious Midtown condominium buildings rallied on Wednesday to push for a union contract, saying negotiations with constructing administration have stalled. 

Concierges, doormen and upkeep workers at 611 West 56th St., 368 third Ave. and 462 West 58th St. in Manhattan voted to hitch property companies union 32BJ SEIU, however they stated condominium boards haven’t but agreed to a contract. 

The stalled talks are over job protections, advantages and a pension. As for wage, the bottom wage the employees at present earn is $21 per hour. They’re demanding a rise that they really feel would maintain tempo with the native price of dwelling and inflation. 

The employees are hoping to succeed in an settlement earlier than April 20 to allow them to be included in a brand new, sector-wide contract being negotiated between the union and the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations. 

The employees plan to march Thursday night from 462 West 58th St. to 611 West 56th St.

New York News contacted the three builders of the websites to touch upon the standing of contact talks with the employees and is awaiting responses.

Employees and the union on the third Avenue location stated the constructing’s condominium board has failed to succeed in a good settlement. Staff there say some staff earn as little as $21 an hour with restricted advantages. 

“For two years now, our wages have been frozen and the condo board is refusing to give us a fair contract. That time is nothing to them, but it’s everything to me,” stated Jacquel Gilmore, concierge on the constructing. “My wife and I are already living paycheck to paycheck. Without a fair contract, we’ve had to put our plans to start a family on hold.”

At 462 West 58th St., staff stated they’ve been searching for a contract for almost two years. They allege the constructing owes staff again pay below prevailing wage legal guidelines. Employees on the West 56th Road location shaped a union on the finish of 2024 however have but to finalize a contract with administration.

“The standards we have set ensure good union jobs and a pathway to the middle class for generations of New Yorkers. Those standards have been hard-won, through decades of struggle and organizing,” stated Manny Pastreich, president of 32BJ SEIU. “We stand ready to defend our hard-won standards. We will fight and win for the workers at 611 W 56th Street, 368 3rd Avenue, and 462 West 58th Street. We will fight and win for the 34,000 residential workers across the city.”
