A girl was sentenced to fifteen years in jail after she pleaded responsible to stabbing a U.S. Postal Service employee to demise whereas at a deli in Harlem, in response to prosecutors.

Jaia Cruz was sentenced Wednesday within the homicide of 36-year-old Ray Hodges, a postal employee who was on obligation when he was stabbed within the abdomen on the deli on Lenox Avenue close to 118th Avenue on Jan. 2.

An worker on the deli advised NBC New York a combat broke out over a meals order, because the suspect was upset the postal employee positioned his order first.

Hodges was taken to Harlem Hospital, the place he was pronounced lifeless. Police stated he had been stabbed seven instances.

The 24-year-old Cruz had confronted costs of second-degree homicide and first-degree manslaughter. Hodges’ household exploded in anger following the sentencing, screaming and sobbing as they blasted what they felt was a light-weight sentence.

Along with the 15 years in jail, Cruz may also have 5 years of supervised launch.
