After practically three weeks, one of many largest wildfires in New Jersey’s historical past is now fully contained.

On Monday, Could 12, 2025, the New Jersey Forest Hearth Service confirmed the Jones Street Wildfire in Ocean and Lacey townships in Ocean County was 100% contained after burning a complete of 15,300 acres.

Whereas the fireplace is contained, officers warn that smoke situations proceed across the southeastern portion of the fireplace. Forest hearth service members will proceed to watch the world.

The fireplace started on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, on the Greenwood Forest Wildfire Administration Space in Ocean County. The fireplace later unfold, destroying a enterprise in Lacey Township, closing close by roads and forcing 1000’s of individuals to evacuate.

Two days after the wildfire started, 19-year-old Joseph Kling of Waretown, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with arson in connection to the fireplace. Investigators mentioned Kling set wood pallets on hearth and left the world with out extinguishing the flames. Kling was later launched from jail whereas carrying a GPS ankle monitor.

A 17-year-old boy was additionally arrested and charged with arson in connection to the fireplace.
