Gov. Kathy Hochul accused the Trump Administration of intentionally withholding SNAP advantages from roughly 3 million New Yorkers after the Division of Agriculture claimed earlier this month that there wouldn’t be sufficient funding to cowl the whole lot of SNAP advantages in November if the continued authorities shutdown continues.

Barbara Guinn, New York’s Commissioner of Momentary and Incapacity Help, described SNAP as the best starvation prevention program within the nation and acknowledged that halting month-to-month advantages can be unprecedented. She added that such a transfer would have a “devastating” impression on the roughly 3 million New Yorkers who depend on this system. 

“SNAP recipients, most of whom are children, older adults, or disabled, count on SNAP every month to feed their families,” Guinn stated. “The federal government must act now to provide the necessary funding for SNAP benefits so that the millions of Americans and New Yorkers who depend on it are not allowed to become the casualties of a budget fight.”
