Mayor Eric Adams’ workplace instructed New York News Tuesday morning that the town would supply over $5 billion prematurely funds to city-contracted nonprofit organizations for Fiscal 12 months 2026 in a transfer set to rehabilitate the connection between the town and its nonprofit companions.

This allotment is a rise from the $2.6 billion allotted throughout FY 2025 and goals to ship very important monetary help shortly to organizations devoted to serving a few of the metropolis’s most susceptible populations.

Today, we are giving these organizations the highest advance payments in city history, ensuring those who care for our city can count on their city to care for them.”

The funding comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen the monetary stability of nonprofit suppliers, that are important in areas reminiscent of youth programming, psychological well being providers, and emergency shelters.

Every year, nonprofit organizations are eligible to obtain as much as 25 % of their contract worth as an advance. Final fiscal yr, the town issued $2.8 billion in such advances.

“Nonprofit providers are not vendors — they are vital partners,” mentioned Michael Sedillo, government director of the Mayor’s Workplace of Nonprofit Providers. “These organizations maintain the safety net that millions of New Yorkers count on.
