Former New York Metropolis Mayor Invoice de Blasio can pay greater than $300,000 for improperly utilizing taxpayer funds for his NYPD safety element to journey with him throughout his short-lived 2019 presidential marketing campaign. 

The Conflicts of Curiosity Board had accused de Blasio of misusing his safety element on greater than 30 events.

De Blasio posted on X that he “settled an outstanding case with the NYC COIB. I acknowledge that I made a mistake, and I deeply regret it.”

The COIB stated in a press release Wednesday the settlement ends three years of litigation with the previous mayor.  De Blasio can pay $329,794.20 in restitution; he has already paid $100,000, the COIB stated. The almost $230,000  de Blasio nonetheless owes will likely be paid again over the following 4 years.

The cash covers journey prices for the NYPD officers however not their wage and additional time. Since 2023, de Blasio had been attempting to battle paying the reimbursement. He can even pay a $10,000 fantastic.

“Now it’s time to move forward,” de Blasio wrote in his social media submit.
