DCF investigating demise of kid after medical emergency at YWCA in Connecticut

A toddler died after struggling a medical emergency on the YWCA New Britain on Tuesday, based on an announcement from the group, and the state Division of Youngsters and Households is investigating.

Metropolis officers mentioned the dispatch heart obtained a 911 name at 11:44 a.m. Tuesday a few little one choking on the YWCA in New Britain and police, firefighters and EMS responded. They referred NBC Connecticut to succeed in out to the YWCA instantly for any further particulars.

The YWCA issued an announcement on WEdnesday afternoon saying that the kid was transported to the hospital and later died.

“YWCA New Britain grieves this immeasurable loss with the parents, family, and loved ones affected. There are no words to fully express the sorrow we feel, and we extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to the child’s parents, family, and loved ones. We are holding them close in our hearts during this unimaginably painful time,” they mentioned in an announcement launched on Wednesday afternoon.

In line with the YWCA, employees responded instantly and adopted all emergency procedures, together with administering “age-appropriate first aid and calling 911.”

They went on to say that the kid’s household was instantly notified and concerned all through the method.

YWCA New Britain Childcare providers are closed on Wednesday and so they mentioned grief counselors and help sources will likely be accessible to employees and households and they’re making counseling accessible for kids who could need assistance processing this tragedy.

In addition they mentioned they’re cooperating with the New Britain Police Division and different state companies.

“We are all so deeply saddened by this loss, and we ask for privacy and respect for all during this very difficult time for the families and our surrounding community as we mourn together,” the YWCA mentioned in an announcement.

The state Division of Youngsters and Households mentioned solely that they obtained a report and are investigating.

“Due to state and federal confidentiality laws restricting what information we can confirm publicly, all we can confirm at this time is that DCF received a report on this incident and we are conducting a joint investigation alongside OEC and law enforcement,” DCF mentioned in an announcement.
