The wing of a passenger airplane touchdown at LaGuardia Worldwide Airport in New York struck the runway floor Sunday because it tried a “go-around” due to an unstable method, officers mentioned.
There have been no accidents, and the airplane landed safely after the left wing struck the runway floor at round 10:10 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration and an airport spokesperson mentioned Monday.
Delta Connection Flight 4814, with 80 folks aboard, was operated by Endeavor Air, which is a subsidy of Delta Air Strains, Delta mentioned in a press release. It was flying from Jacksonville, Florida, to LaGuardia.
“The Endeavor Air flight crew followed established procedures to safely enact a go-around at New York-LaGuardia,” Delta mentioned. “The aircraft landed safely and proceeded to its arrival gate. We apologize to our customers for the experience.”
The “go-around” was executed due to what the FAA mentioned was an unstable method.
The maneuver entails the airplane’s stopping the touchdown method and regaining altitude to make one other try.
The airplane was a CRJ-900 with 76 passengers, two pilots and two flight attendants, Delta mentioned.
The FAA mentioned it is going to examine.
