Coach Dwight Downer had simply parked his automobile and was taking the brief stroll house final weekend when he was hit and killed by a driver in a tragic crash.

The youth soccer coach volunteered his time as a coach with the Bronx Buccaneers Youth Soccer Program and the groups at Dewitt Clinton Excessive College.

“I always say, I got to see the softer side of him. I got to see that really gentle, loving, tender man, and that’s what I’m gonna miss,” Tasha Andrews stated.

To Andrews, Dwight Downer was a accomplice in life.

To youngsters throughout the Bronx, he was Coach D.

“He was the one who made that impact. He was the one who really devoted his life to them,” Andrews stated Monday.

The 60-year-old was killed in a series response crash steps from his house in Baychester. Early Saturday morning, police stated the motive force of a BMW crashed right into a pickup truck, two parked automobiles after which struck Downer.

“It’s devastating that people would just have no concern for life, not only their life but the life of others,” Andrews stated.

Downer had a son and daughter of his personal, however Andrews, who’s the overall supervisor of the Buccaneers, stated many youngsters in this system known as him dad, too. He gave them all the pieces, she stated Monday.
