The shuttered Gillian’s Wonderland Pier in Ocean Metropolis — as soon as a haven for summer time household enjoyable — might quickly bear a serious transformation.

Eustace Mita, proprietor and developer of the Wonderland property, shared that he’s proposing to construct a 252-room lodge on the web site.

This comes after Mita proposed a $150 million beachfront lodge for a property adjoining to the pier final 12 months. On the time, the proposal sparked opposition and went nowhere.

Mita stated the brand new lodge could be referred to as “ICONA in Wonderland” and incorporate the previous amusement park’s iconic Ferris wheel and historic carousel, saving them each.

Mita’s firm, ICONA Resorts, already has upscale inns in Avalon, Cape Might and Diamond Seaside.

“We wanted to preserve and enhance Wonderland while bringing an incredible amenity,” Mita advised NBC10. “Because how can we be America’s greatest family resort when we haven’t had a new hotel in 50 years?”

Mita added that the $135 million challenge would assist exchange a number of the 2,000 lodge rooms Ocean Metropolis has misplaced over time.

Mita’s group hopes to current the formidable plan to the town council by March and request that the world be deemed a redevelopment zone, permitting development on the boardwalk entrance.
