In his tenure, Botein led the struggle for reorganization of New York’s famously byzantine courtroom construction that led to centralization underneath the management of the Administrative Board of the Judicial Convention — all in an effort to stitch collectively what he known as the Empire State’s “notorious islands of judicial power.”

Every year, the courtroom system honors the nonjudicial employees — clerks, courtroom reporters and public security officers — who’re important for preserving the wheels of justice spinning.
