NYC Public Colleges rolled out new steering on Tuesday for lecturers utilizing AI that’s riddled with warnings and considerations round potential privateness violations, knowledge accuracy and dangers of spreading misinformation.

The preliminary steering is designed to assist faculty employees use AI “thoughtfully, ethically and responsibly.” It additionally stresses that human judgment is important when checking supplies created by AI.  

Per the steering, AI is off limits for selections about college students, EIP and 504 growth, grades and evaluation, surveillance and conduct, and care counseling.

“These uses are completely off-limits. They represent the highest risk to students, families, and the fairness of our school system. No exceptions,” the steering states.

New York News contacted the lecturers’ union, the United Federation of Lecturers (UFT), for its members’ ideas on the brand new steering, and is awaiting a response.
