10 rescued after sailboat hits jetty in Avalon, NJ, officers say

A number of folks had been rescued after a sailboat struck a jetty in Avalon, New Jersey.

The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon on the eighth Avenue Jetty in Avalon. A spokesperson for the Avalon Seashore Patrol advised NBC10 a sailboat engine broke down, inflicting the vessel to strike the jetty and sink.

Ten individuals who had been on board the boat fell into the water. Members of the Avalon Seashore Patrol in addition to the Avalon Yacht Membership responded to the scene and rescued all 10 folks, officers mentioned.

A spokesperson for the Avalon Seashore Patrol mentioned all 10 persons are doing OK.
