Adams has targeted a lot of his marketing campaign messaging in latest weeks on his opposition to the motion to “defund the police” as he seeks to color Mamdani as being mushy on crime.
“I stood with you during COVID when others wanted to harm you,” Adams stated, noting that he “stood with” the Asian group after the on-duty killing of NYPD officer Wenjian Liu in 2014 — the primary killing of an Asian American NYPD officer within the metropolis’s historical past.
