A seaside in Bridgeport will stay closed to the general public after a number of tick species have been discovered there.

The town of Bridgeport mentioned the choice got here after intensive session with state environmental specialists.

Officers found a number of tick species on the island, together with the invasive Asian longhorned tick.

“In the interest of public health and environmental safety, the city will be conducting a series of treatment and containment efforts throughout the area,” the town mentioned on social media.

Metropolis officers mentioned they’ve additionally seen a major enhance in protected Audubon chicken species nesting within the space.

They are saying this “further reinforces the need to reduce human inference and allow conservation efforts to continue uninterrupted.”

“Given the island’s sensitive ecosystem, managing the risks of cross-contamination requires deliberate, long-term planning,” officers mentioned.

The town mentioned they plan to observe circumstances and hope to reopen subsequent summer season.

The fishing pier at Pleasure Seaside may even stay closed.
