New York lawmakers are reacting with fury after a California U.S. senator was assaulted by legislation enforcement brokers as he tried to ask a query throughout Homeland Safety Secretary Kristi Noem’s press convention in Los Angeles on Thursday.

U.S. Senator Alex Padilla was shoved out of a room, compelled to the bottom and handcuffed by safety after interrupting Noem at a June 12 briefing.

“I am Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary,” Padilla stated through the press convention the place Noem was discussing protests in Los Angeles over President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

“Hands off,” Padilla, 52, stated earlier than he was ushered out of the room.

Padilla, of California, stated in an announcement that he was compelled to the bottom and handcuffed by safety. A video posted on-line confirmed three brokers pushing Padilla to the bottom and handcuffing his fingers behind his again. 

Senate Minority Chief Chuck Schumer, New York’s senior senator, blasted the incident in a speech on the Senate ground.

“I just saw something that sickened my stomach — the manhandling of a United States senator,” Schumer stated in a quick, forceful comment on the ground. “We need immediate answers to what the hell went on.”

The Empire State’s junior senator, Kirsten Gillibrand, condemned the Trump administration for the incident, and stated it must be “ashamed” of itself.

“Senator Padilla was elected by the people of California to represent their communities — which includes asking the tough questions,” Gillibrand stated in a publish on X (previously Twitter). “This administration should be ashamed.”

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who’s working for NYC mayor, issued an announcement condemning the assault of Padilla and stated it was one other instance of the Trump administration concentrating on Democratic lawmakers for talking out in opposition to the regime’s ongoing immigration crackdown.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested and charged with trespassing on Might 9 at a privately run immigration middle. Prosecutors later dropped these fees however charged Democratic U.S. Consultant LaMonica McIver with assaulting and resisting officers who have been attempting to arrest Baraka.
