The NYPD arrested at the very least 9 protesters on Saturday following a standoff in Decrease Manhattan between legislation enforcement and a crowd of demonstrators seeking to cease ongoing immigrations raids carried out by ICE.

A bunch of demonstrators roughly 100 in dimension amassed round Federal Plaza, at one level just a few individuals within the crowd tried to cease a white van from exiting the world.

In current weeks, federal authorities have reportedly been grabbing migrants who seem at court docket for routine appointments. Many have been whisked off and court docket officers shut their instances.

“We are seeing the NYPD here, the NYPD is not supposed to collaborate with ICE. What they are doing here today is collaborating with ICE,” the demonstrator added.

In a social media assertion, the Division of Homeland Safety referred to Saturday’s protesters as “rioters.”

“Outside a federal law enforcement building in New York City, more than 150 rioters erupted to interfere with ICE’s immigration enforcement operations. Thankfully, unlike in Los Angeles, the local police department quickly responded to the riots,” the company wrote on X.
