Teen charged with beginning huge wildfire in Ocean County, NJ

A teen is accused of sparking the large wildfire that continues to burn in Ocean County, New Jersey.

Joseph Kling, 19, of Ocean Township (Waretown) was arrested and charged with aggravated arson and arson, officers introduced on Thursday, April 24.

On April 22, round 9:45 a.m., officers noticed smoke coming from the realm of Jones and Bryant roads in Ocean Township. Responding emergency personnel then noticed the hearth throughout the Ocean County Pure Lands Belief’s Forked River Mountains Wilderness Space on the east facet of Jones Highway.

Over the span of three days, the hearth burned round 15,000 acres in Ocean County, destroying a enterprise, closing roads and at one level forcing the evacuation of hundreds of residents. As of Thursday, it was 50% contained.

Investigators decided the hearth was attributable to an improperly extinguished bonfire. Officers stated an adolescent, later recognized as Kling, set picket pallets on hearth after which left the realm with out the hearth being absolutely extinguished.

Kling was taken into custody at Ocean Township Police headquarters. He was then transported to the Ocean County Jail the place he stays in custody pending a detention listening to.
