A Shelton teenager who’s blind is getting ready to showcase his skills at Radio Metropolis Music Corridor.

Vincent Vallillo, 15, misplaced his imaginative and prescient resulting from problems from a mind tumor on the age of 9.

He started enjoying piano from his hospital mattress as a therapeutic instrument, as he was additionally struggling to maneuver the left aspect of his physique. 

“Piano has brought many things to my life such as hope, inspiration, the want to just keep pushing forward and you know, inspire other people,” stated Vallillo.

Over time, Vallillo has continued to observe his musical craft, and earned an invite to play on the 2025 Goals of Tomorrow Expertise Present at Radio Metropolis Music Corridor by The Backyard of Goals Basis. 

“Not a lot of people get to do this and I am honored that they have chosen me to be a performer here because not only is it going to be truly amazing, I can put it down in my resume, you know I got to perform here,” stated Vallillo. 

Vallillo stated he enjoys enjoying jazz and classical tunes, in addition to his personal music, and hopes to in the future flip his expertise right into a profession. 

“I want to continue with recording music, like my own stuff and starting a band hopefully and start moving on and making a living out of it.”

The 2025 Backyard of Goals Expertise Present will characteristic greater than 150 younger folks from the tri-state space who’re dealing with unimaginable obstacles. 

As Vallillo prepares to hit the massive stage, he shared some recommendation to others dealing with their very own adversities: 

“I would say, don’t necessarily say you’re better than me, or someone’s better than you, just focus on yourself and keep walking forward because there’s nothing stopping you.” 

The annual Backyard of Goals Expertise Present will happen at Radio Metropolis Music Corridor on Tuesday, Apr. 8 at 7:00. Free tickets could be reserved upfront.
