A pair of unsecured window washers had the fright of their lives Friday when the wind seized their scaffold, sending it twisting and turning virtually eight tales up — and smashing into the posh Manhattan high-rise they had been cleansing.
Authorities say the 2 staff had been on a scaffold exterior the 78th ground of 25 Columbus Circle when their rig began swinging wildly uncontrolled. It slammed into an condominium window. Chunks of damaged glass rained down onto 58th Road between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, although no accidents had been reported. The world was blocked off for a while.
Video posted to the Citizen app confirmed the scaffold twisting within the air.
In keeping with the FDNY, rescue staff had been capable of haul the scaffold shut sufficient to the constructing to rescue the window washers. Each had been taken to a hospital as a precaution and each are anticipated to be OK. It isn’t clear why they weren’t secured on the time of the incident.
