‘Past merciless:’ Tennis coach struck by hit-run driver after Lengthy Island pageant

Successful-and-run driving incident has left a beloved tennis teacher in a wheelchair with a damaged leg and wrist. 

Jayne Alterman of East Meadow was leaving a live performance at Westbury Music Honest on Friday round 11p.m.  She and the remainder of the gang have been strolling on a sidewalk within the parking zone to their automobiles on Brush Hole Highway, when she was struck.

“It felt like whoosh!  Like somebody just came up from behind you and we went flying,” defined Alterman, who’s being handled at Nassau College Medical Heart.  “Like a 10-ton truck hit me.”

Alterman says she went flying onto the concrete and instantly felt capturing ache in her leg and wrist.  She says her husband ran after the motive force in an try and cease it.

“My husband’s from the Bronx, you don’t mess with him. Somebody hit his wife and he left me on the ground and ran after them,” she stated.

He was unable to cease the truck, however did get an image.  It seems to be a grey coloured Dodge Ram pickup truck; the license plate just isn’t clear.

Police are investigating and asking anybody with data to come back ahead, particularly anybody with dashcam video from that night time.

Alterman has already undergone leg surgical procedure and had a metallic rod positioned close to her tibia. On Wednesday, she is going to endure wrist surgical procedure.  Medical doctors say it may take her as much as six months to recuperate, which leaves her frightened as a result of she is a tennis coach by career. 

Her daughter is urging anybody with data to please contact them or police.

“We need help catching the person who hit my mom and left her on the ground,” stated Lindsie Alterman.  “How can you leave someone on the ground and just run away, it’s beyond cruel.”
